A Summer Adventure Could Be One RV Rental Away
Traveling around the country can be an incredible vacation adventure. Road tripping through the United States requires a proper vehicle though. That’s where a recreational vehicle (RV) comes into play. An RV can allow people to live comfortably while they explore and enjoy parts of the country they didn’t know they would otherwise get to see. While some people use RVs for camping, others prefer to use it purely as a means of transportation.
The downside is that RVs can be incredibly expensive. The more features you add to the RV, the more it's going to cost. A top of the line RV can cost in the six figures! Most people don’t have over a hundred thousand dollars to toss around for a vacation vehicle. That’s where renting comes into play. Renting an RV is arguably the best way to find out if it’s for you. Renting gives you all the joy of taking an RV without the commitment. If you’re looking for a unique vacation experience, then renting an RV may be the way to go.
Benefits of Renting an RV
There’s plenty of reasons to rent an RV. As mentioned, the first reason is to try out the RV lifestyle. After all, there’s a huge cost to getting involved in the first place. If you’re going to want to invest in it, its’ best to make sure that you really enjoy the trip.
The second is that choosing an RV lets you travel in groups. Whether you’re traveling with your family or a big group of friends, an RV lets you travel as a group. This can even expand further if you’re intending on camping. You can carry a lot of people in an RV when you’re only traveling and setting up tents for the majority of them at night. Renting an RV can be even cheaper than renting a vacation home. It’s almost assuredly cheaper than renting a vacation home and a rental car.
This brings up the main point of RV rentals. If you’re trying to rent an RV, it tends to run from $150 to $200 per night during busy seasons. It can go higher if there’s huge demand. If you’re only going to use an RV for a week or two each year, then renting is the obvious financial choice.
Which RV to Rent
There’s actually a wide variety of different RVs that will be available to rent. The largest option is Class A motorhomes. These are the megahomes that you see rolling down the highway as mega behemoths. These are most popular with people who are full time RV owners who like a lot of different amenities within the RV. These RVs are often 30 to 40 feet in length.
Class B and C RVs are smallers options. Class B are known as campervans. They often look like extended size vans and don’t get much past 25 feet in size. Class C RVs are usually bigger than Class B. These are built off of extended track chassis. The cabin will quite commonly extend up above the driving cockpit as well. This is an easy way to fit in an extra sleeping space. Class C motorhomes often come the closest to matching the size and amenities of the giant Class A options.
The final option are towable RVs. In these cases, you’ll need to provide a vehicle with appropriate towing capability and all the connectors to tow the RV. These can range from the larger fifth wheel campers and tow haulers down to the tiny teardrop trailers or pop up campers. Price tends to increase or decrease according to size.
