Going beyond the obvious use of pajamas at night, plenty of people love to wear pajamas as comfort clothing. Pajamas are often used in the evening or on weekends as a way to move around your home in comfort instead of dealing with stuffy and uncomfortable work clothing. People who love pajamas really love pajamas. If you’re looking for a new pair and want to try something different, why not make sure it’s something you’re really going to like.

Common Women’s Pajama Materials

As mentioned, there are certainly a wide number of different materials that your pajamas can come in. Some are better than others for different temperatures. Sometimes it just comes down to personal choice. Some of the common popular ones include:

  • Cotton - They say cotton is the perfect fabric. It’s certainly good because it is breathable. Pajamas have two options for cotton. Lightweight cotton is usually the most likely. It’s soft and allows for temperature management. Supima cotton is extra breathable and actually can feel cool to the touch. It’s extra lightweight. It can also be form fitting and hug the body, while giving good stretch.
  • Flannel - Flannel pajamas are one of the unofficial signs that winter has begun. They are thick, soft and warm. They are also fantastic lounging pajamas as they provide enough warmth in a cool home even without blankets.
  • Silk - Silk is widely known for being incredibly soft to the touch. The downside to silk is that it’s not great at temperature control. It doesn’t insulate, so you can feel cold if you’re wearing them around the house. In addition, the lack of breathability of silk pajamas can lead to a person getting too hot as they sleep and sweating more than they might expect to.
  • Broadcloth - This is similar to cotton but is stronger. It’s not as comforting as a flannel set either. Broadcloth is most often used in traditional pajama sets with a button up top.

Great Pajama Styles

There’s a huge number of different styles that women have to choose from. It’s really a nice smorgasbord of potential options. What makes pajamas more interesting is that you can disregard fashion a lot of the time. Living on your own means comfort is the most important thing. When you consider your next pajama purchase, try one of these options:

  • Cotton Print Sets - This pajama style is quite simple. It’s a printed shirt/pants combination which oozes comfort. They will be lightweight and usually have good stretch to ensure that they remain comfortable no matter how you move or sleep.
  • Cuffed Short Sleeve Sets - These sets tend to be similar, but choose to shorten up the different sleeves. Arms are mostly exposed and the pants are often capris.
  • Onesie Pajamas - What was once a sort of joke has actually gotten a lot of love in recent years. Onesie pajamas only have the single piece and can be incredibly comfortable. Many are made of flannel and warmer materials, making it easy to stay warm during those cold nights, or during a rainy Sunday reading books.
  • Collared Neck Style - When choosing a collared set, it’s more likely to come in higher end fabrics like silk or satin. The shirt portion will usually be a button up.
  • Tee and Pants - This is a simple setup with a tee shirt or baby tee upon some comfy pajama pants.
  • Short Pajamas - Not everyone wants to cover up their entire legs while they sleep. Short sets may have a full or tee shirt style top with complimentary shorts. These can be great for ladies with restless leg issues.
  • Full Fleece Winter Sets - This style uses thicker fleece to allow for more comfort during really cold temperatures. While these follow standard two piece styles, the simple infusion of flannel makes a huge difference.
