There Are Few Clothing Items More Comfortable Than Loungewear
As stylish as a suit or evening gown can be, not everyone needs to be dressed to the nines at all times. There is an entire category of clothing for people who want to go about their homes while content and relaxed yet would prefer not to go about their free time naked. We call this sort of attire loungewear and it is not a synonym for underwear. Have ever pondered questions like the following?
- "What actually counts as loungewear?"
- "Is there any difference between the terms 'leisure wear,' 'casual wear' and 'loungewear?'"
- "Which clothing brands should I be watching out for if I want to buy some quality loungewear?"
If you said "yes," know that the answers to each of these questions and more will be covered in this basic guide. Provided below is a style overview and guide to leading brands.
Styles of Loungewear
There’s many items that make up loungewear, but the biggest thing is comfort. Everything that is involved in loungewear is comfortable to wear and makes you feel good while you do it. Items include:
- Sweat pants. These garments are made of thick, soft fabrics and include a stretchy waistband for maximum comfort.
- Sweat shirts. These garments often accompany sweat pants and tend to be made in crew neck or hoodie styles.
- T-shirt. Where formalwear does its best to cover as much of the arms as possible, tees are made of soft fabrics that barely conceal the arms.
- Tank top. Light and comfortable, the tank top ensures you never get too warm.
- Shorts. While most shorts can be considered loungewear by default, some versions include a drawstring waist or are made of stretchy material to really sell the premise and make the shorts conform to the wearer's shape instead of the reverse.
- Thermal underwear. While this category of clothing is made to be lightweight it also does an amazing job of stabilizing your body temperature during the colder months. The light weave of thermals means that they can properly insulate and fit against the wearer's body without being constricting.
- Tracksuit. A tracksuit is like an upscaled version of a sweatshirt-sweatpants combo but made with softer materials like velour. The pants element will usually have a drawstring waist while the accompanying jacket will zip up.
- Leggings. Despite being form-fitting from top to bottom, the inherent softness of leggings makes them excellent as loungewear.
- Jumpsuits. This is a one-piece outfit that is both comfortable and made of soft material. Jumpsuits tend to have cinched elastic waists to ensure a pleasing fit.
- Slacks. While leggings have been traditionally suited for women as loungewear bottoms, slacks have been traditionally suited for men.
